Intel has released new fourth generation Intel Core Processors (Haswell) at computex in Taipei, through which it's targeting PC/ tablet and Ultrabooks.
The processor designed primarily for Ultrabooks , are on the company's flagship 22nm Haswell micro-architecture. According to Intel, the fourth generation Intel Core processors deliver a 50 percent increase in battery life in active workloads over previous generation. This is he largest generation-over generation gain, equating to over 9 hours of battery life in active workloads for some Ultrabooks based on the new processor, as per the company.
Intel's newest core processor are the first SoCs(system on chip) for PC's and power a variety of new devices, including Ultrabooks , two in one and portable all in one designs.
Systems based on the quad-core version of the new Core processors are available now with additional version available in the coming months.
The fourth generation Intel Core Processors also have built-in Intel Iris Graphics which according to Intel delivers up to 2 time the performance of Intel's prior generation. This GPU will be offered on select versions of the new Intel Core Processors.
On Monday, Asus and Acer had unveiled new Ultrabooks powered by the fourth generation Intel Core processors. Asus had also announced the Transfomer Book Trio with a docking station powered by 4th generation core i7 processor. The Dell XPS 11 is also powered by the Intel's fourth generation Core processors. Apple is also expected to launch a Retina MacBook Pro line up feturing Haswell processors.
