Taiwanese manufacturer Asus is all set to enter the smartphone segment with its ZenFone range next month.

The company will introduce on July 9 a number of smartphones, phonetabs and tablets in the country, including ZenFone models unveiled at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as well as Computex. This will mean Asus will have a device at every size ranging between 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5 and 6 inches, and above.

The biggest model in Asus's smartphone series is ZenFone 6, which sports a 6-inch HD screen. Unveiled at CES 2014, this phablet is powered by Android 4.4 (KitKat) mobile operating system and has a 2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 chipset under the hood.

ZenFone 6 comes in 8, 16 and 32GB storage options and supports external storage up to 64GB via microSD cards. Depending on the storage, the model comes with 1 or 2GB RAM. This phablet has a 13MP camera with LED flash on the back and a 2MP camera in front.

Unveiled at CES in January 2014, Asus ZenFone 5 has a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It will come with 8 and 16GB internal storage (and microSD support up to 64GB) along with 1 and 2GB RAM respectively.

ZenFone 5 also comes in two processor options: 2GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 or 1.6GHz dual-core Atom Z2560. On the back, it has an 8MP camera with LED flash, while a 2MP camera is placed in front.

The ZenFone 5 model showcased at Computex earlier in June packs a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor instead of the Intel chipset. It has 2GB RAM and comes with 16 and 32GB storage options. The remaining features remain the same as that of its predecessor.

The first-generation ZenFone 4, unveiled at CES, has a 4-inch display featuring 800x480p resolution. This model runs on Android KitKat as well and is powered by the Intel chipset dual-core 1.2GHz Atom Z2520 processor. This model features 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and supports 64GB microSD support. It also has an 8MP camera with LED flash, but sports a VGA front camera.

At Computex 2014, ZenFone 4 got a minor upgrade, featuring a relatively bigger screen (4.5-inch screen with 854x480p resolution). The remaining features and specifications remain the same.

While the CES models have already hit the China market, India will be among the handful of markets to get the ZenFone products unveiled at Computex.

It is expected that these models will be positioned in the sub-Rs 25,000 segment and aimed primarily at budget to mid-range buyers.

Building upon its wide expertise in the tablet space, Amazon has unveiled its first smartphone today. So yes, all those rumors were true after all.

It's called the Amazon Fire Phone and its main selling points are bound to be Amazon's reach in terms of content services, as well as the unique 3D UI dubbed Dynamic Perspective.

This much talked about feature changes what's depicted on the screen depending on where you are in relation to the phone. It accomplishes this by tracking your eyes with four specialized cameras that are located in the front corners of the handset.

Dynamic Perspective ties in nicely with tilt gestures that allow you to initiate actions by simply moving the phone. For example, you can tilt the device to scroll inside the browser, something eerily reminiscent of Samsung's Smart Scroll feature. And the same thing works inside ebooks, and even games.

As previously leaked, the Fire Phone boasts a 4.7-inch IPS 720p touchscreen with 590 nits of brightness, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU and Adreno 330 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. It has support for 4G LTE.

The handset's frame is made from rubber, and a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3 is present both on its front and on its back. The buttons are made of anodized aluminum.

The rear camera is a 13MP f/2.0 unit with a five-element lens, and it comes with optical image stabilization as well as a dedicated hardware button. Amazon is throwing in free unlimited photo storage in its Cloud Drive.

The Fire Phone has two stereo speakers on the front with virtual surround sound. The earbuds that come in the box have a tangle-free cable and they snap to each other thanks to built-in magnets.

The Amazon Fire Phone runs Fire OS 3.5, which seems to be the same OS used on the Kindle Fire line of tablets. It's based on Android but lacks any of the Google's services.

Obviously Amazon has made a big deal about its content services too. Movies, TV shows, music, books, magazines, and newspapers - all are available right from the retail giant itself.

Furthermore, a new exclusive feature called Firefly uses the phone's camera or microphone to recognize the things around you and then find them in its database. So you can point the camera at a book, it's recognized and you're then immediately offered the option to purchase it from Amazon. This also works for identifying TV shows and songs, and it has its own dedicated button on the side of the Fire phone.

Another exclusive feature is Mayday, which gets you 24/.7 remote support for any task you would like to accomplish on the phone.

Amazon's first smartphone is exclusive to AT&T in the US.

The pricing is far from revolutionary. The commitment free price is $649. With a contract, the base 32GB Fire Phone would cost you $199 along with a new two-year contract with AT&T. Or you can choose the carrier's Next plans and pay $27 per month for the device. A 64GB option is available for $299.

So no, the Amazon phone isn't free (not even on contract), but you do get a year's worth of Amazon Prime with every phone (introductory offer).

Amazon is expected to launch it’s first-ever smartphone at an event in Seattle on 18 June.

In terms of technical specs the phone is likely to be placed in the upper-middle slice of devices with reports suggesting a 4.7-inch, 720p screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM.

However, Amazon is also going to be unveiling unknown ‘3D’ capabilities, with some leaks suggesting that Amazon will use four cameras built into the front of the phone to track users’ head movements movements, while others say that built-in sensors will let people navigate the phone by tilting it from side to side.

A teaser video for the device apparently confirms this, with suspiciously delighted customers bobbing their heads about at the unseen gadget. This sort of user interface could help overcome the difficulties of navigating our increasingly large phones with a single hand.

The other main point of interest is likely to be the phone’s price. Unlike Apple, Amazon typically sells its hardware for little or no profit, instead making money from the digital media that owners purchase through its connected stores.

It’s previously lowered costs through integrating ads into the Kindle Fire’s lock screen and a report from the Wall Street Journal suggests that an exclusive deal with AT&T is also in the offing.

However, the proliferation of cheap and capable smartphones (there’s the Moto E, Lumia 630 and carrier-specific devices like the EE Kestrel and Vodafone Smart 4 in the UK) means that a low price is no longer the stand-out selling point it once was.

So what else is there there? It’s more than possible that Amazon could bundle a whole range of premium services with the device. Amazon’s subscription service, Amazon Prime, now offers free one day shipping, e-book downloads, video on demand and music streaming all in a single package.

If Amazon could add some sort of subsidized data package to this (perhaps through the tie-up with AT&T) then it could sell users constant access to all the entertainment they want for a single monthly fee. No fussing around with subscriptions, and all with Amazon's much loved customer service underpinning the user experience.

As it’s unlikely that the company will be able to make a dent in emerging markets (a recent report from Upstream said that only 56 per cent of consumers in these regions recognized the retailer compared to 87 per cent for Google and 85 per cent for Apple) it seems that this could be a good strategy for Amazon, targeting ‘premium’ consumers as aggressively as possible.

This may sound a dangerously unprofitable approach for Amazon, but with the company’s invitation to the 18 June launch including a note from Bezos saying “I think you’ll agree that the world is a better place when things are a little bit different”, it’s entirely possible that the retailing giant is poised to shake things up.

Mozilla, the developer of the Firefox web browser, has tied up with handset makers Intex and Spice to bring smartphones priced at  ₹1,500 ($25) to India in the next few months, a move that may redefine the “ultra-affordable” mobile phone market in the country.

Mozilla showcased a smartphone prototype at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February, targeting developing countries including India and China. The Firefox operating system devices will compete with phones using Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows platforms.

“Mozilla is dedicated to putting the power of the web in people’s hands, and Firefox OS frees consumers, developers, mobile providers and manufacturers from the limitations and restrictions of proprietary platforms,” Mozilla Chief Operating Officer Li Gong said in a statement.

With more accessible Firefox OS phones coming to India soon and the addition of Intex and Spice to the team of global partners, it is clear that momentum for Firefox OS is continuing to accelerate, he added.

“The platform will give us an edge in upgrading buyers from feature phones to smartphones while making it affordable for the mass market. This will propel our devices to be much more than a way to use the web, but take the engagement further and develop the web as a mobile platform,” Intex Technologies Business Head (Mobile) Sanjay Kumar Kalirona said.

The association will enable it to develop “unparallelled smart devices” on the latest Firefox OS platform, he added.

Dilip Modi, co-founder and CEO of Spice, said the firm has high expectations from this partnership. “These phones will be affordably priced to ensure everyone can enjoy and experience the power of the Firefox OS phone,” Modi added.

Smartphone sales in the country grew almost three-fold to over 44 million in 2013, buoyed by affordable devices made by local firms such as Micromax and Karbonn, according to research firm IDC.

In the first quarter of 2014, 17.59 million smartphones were shipped in India compared with 6.14 million in the same period of 2013.

While Samsung is the category leader with a 35 per cent market share, Micromax had 15 per cent, Karbonn 10 per cent, LAVA 6 per cent and Nokia 4 per cent in Q1, IDC said.

Low-cost handsets prices less than Rs 5,000 and smartphones not costing more than Rs 7,000 from Asian handset makers including Huawei, ZTE, Micromax and Karbonn have been driving growth in the emerging markets of Asia and Africa.

Toshiba, being aware about the huge potential in Indian market, launched their latest product which is considered as world's first ultra HD (4K) laptop. It has been launched in Indian market. This laptop comes under Toshiba's satellite P series and they named it 'TOSHIBA SATELLITE P55t'.It's price is about Rs.86.000 and expected to be available in market by end of june.

    FEATURES:
  • Screen Resolution : 3840 X 2160 pixels
  • 15.6 inch Ultra HD touch screen
  • 4th  generation Intel Core i7 quad core processor
  • 16 GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon R9 M265X GPU

  • 4 USB Ports
  • UHS-II SD Card Slot
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 ac)
  • Blue-Ray Disc re-writable drive

As we see the specification, this seems to be quite impressive and worth money. The design is stunning and stylish as we see  in the pics. The only drawback of this laptop is that it do not have SDD option.Toshiba has included a free copy of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. As Toshiba has made their entry in 4K segment,we can expect more companies to have their mark in this segment.

FIFA World Cup 2014 introduced a new technology to the world named 'GOAL CONTROL' which helps referee's to take accurate goal decisions. This technology was developed by a German tech startup company. The designers says that this technology is unhackable and 100% accurate.

The most important part of this technology is 14 high speed camera's placed all around the ground which will capture 500 images per second and helps to create 3-D positioning of the ball. Another important part of this technology is a powerful image processing computer, which process and analyze the images captured by those high speed camera's.The computer, by analyzing those images, tracks the movement of all objects in the ground and filters out everything except football movement.

If the ball passes the goal line ,a signal is send to referee's watch displaying a message "GOAL" with a vibration. All these happens within 1 second when ball passes the line.It cost's around $260,000  to  install this technology per stadium and $3,900 per match to operate this technology.

.

In World Cup 2010,England's midfielder Frank Lampard's goal against Germany was disallowed by referee. That  was a turning point  of the match which led to Germany's victory. This incident caused widespread protest all over the world and that made FIFA president Sepp Blatter to use some kind of technology which helps referee's to take accurate decisions. This paved the way of development of Goal Control technology.
